Dow is to establish its new European service centre in Terneuzen.
Dow is to establish its new European service centre in Terneuzen. The centre will open on 1 January 2010 with a hundred employees, the half of whom will be new and the other half existing staff. The centre will provide support services, such as purchasing and logistics support, to all Dow branches in Europe. With the arrival of the centre in Terneuzen, Dow will be maintaining jobs in the Netherlands and thus also creating new ones. The European Service Centre Terneuzen will be an independent enterprise, forming part of a global Dow network of service centres with branches in Midland (USA), Mumbai (India), Sao Paolo (Brazil) and Shanghai (China). At some point in the future, the centre will also offer its services to other companies. Earlier this year, Dow carried out a reorganisation, with the loss of around two hundred jobs. Restructuring of the support services, which was announced later, is now to be abandoned thanks to the arrival of the new European service centre. Dow currently employs 1950 permanent staff in Terneuzen.back to overview
