Katoen Natie expanding in Valuepark Terneuzen
Valuepark Terneuzen, the industrial estate at the Mosselbanken, is continuing to develop. The Belgian logistics company Katoen Natie reports that it has invested more than 2 million euros in the expansion of its silo capacity at the park.
From 3 March, a total of 24 extra storage silos with a capacity of 308 m³ will be taken into use. Besides the 4 existing rows of silos, an extra row of 4 raised silos has been added. These make it possible to load 20-foot sea containers quickly and efficiently using gravity. This concept was invented by Katoen Natie a number of years ago, and the pilot project took place at Valuepark Terneuzen.
As the logistics supplier to Dow Benelux, Katoen Natie has been based in Valuepark since 2002. This new expansion is now the fourth in Terneuzen by Katoen Natie. Initially, the company started with 40 silos and a 7200 m² warehouse – now the number of silos has increased to 160, and the storage capacity in open air and in warehouses has more than doubled.
The developments at Katoen Natie have also had a favourable effect on job creation in the region. Since 2002, the number of people employed at the company’s site at Valuepark Terneuzen has increased from 24 to 90.
